Family & Community Support Services

Family and Community Support Services are expressions of the faith, hope and love portrayed by the three leaves of the Barber National Institute shamrock logo. The shamrock symbolizes the conscientious professionalism that is the hallmark of services offered through the Barber National Institute in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Guided by the needs of families for over fifty years, the professional staff at the Barber National Institute works closely with each family in the common cause of supporting individuals with special needs. Click here for information on the Agency with Choice Program.

Family Support Services at the Barber National Institute is a family driven program that assists eligible families in selecting and purchasing services that enhance the quality of life for their family member with special needs.

Our services and programs are designed to promote and support family unity by meeting the needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Qualifying families are able to purchase the services necessary to help maintain their family member with developmental disabilities at home.

The services may include:

  • Therapies
  • Respite Care
  • Recreation
  • Sitter Companion
  • Payee Counseling
  • Parenting Skills Training
  • Adaptive Equipment
  • Homemaker/Home Health
