Sleeping Concerns
By twelve to eightteen months most
children should be sleeping through the
night. When children aren't getting the
proper sleep it can lead or contribute to
other behavior concerns. Sleeping concerns
can include: refusal to go to bed, taking a
long time to fall asleep, waking several
times a night, night terrors, or being
unable to maintain a consistent sleep
schedule. Behavioral services can be
helpful in working with parents to develop
a consistent sleep schedule, identify factors
contributing to sleep disturbances,
and teaching children to self-regulate
(soothe themselves), and fall back to sleep.
The ealier sleeping issues are addressed the
easier it is to deter negative habits from developing.
